Ely Optics were called upon to create the optical lens array for an electronic display art installation for Weill Cornell Medical College. The project played with the idea of micro versus macro images:  a macro artistic display made up of individual micro screen “pixels” each showing images relevant to the biomedical research being conducted at Weill Cornell. In the photo here you can see the fresnel lenses we designed floating in front of each micro display “pixel”.

Hirsch & Mann, the designers of the artwork, created a video about the making of the Weill Cornell art installation, which gives fascinating insight to the design concept and technical process behind the project.
